Facebook feature lets neighbors volunteer to help each other during pandemic


Facebook (FB) is rolling out a new tool which lets its users provide or request assistance from their neighbors throughout that the coronavirus pandemic.

On Tuesday, the social media declared the"Community Assist" feature, in which people are able to volunteer to pick up groceries, ask someone to run an errand or contribute to fundraisers.
Users in the US is going to have the ability to see posts inside a 50-mile radius of the place or closer. Facebook said it detected users asking for assistance and wished to construct a feature to make the process easier.
It's a theory similar to what's already happening on Nextdoor, a social network to local communities and neighborhoods.
Facebook has been proven to borrow features from rivals, such as disappearing posts and a relationship tool. Fidji Simo, head of the Facebook program, said its user base of more than 2 billion people globally will give it an edge over other neighborhood services.
