Facebook's dedicated Gaming app is currently available to download on the Play Store. The company had announced the new app over the weekend in a New York Times .

And While you can use the platform to play some casual games with your buddies, the focus of Facebook Gaming is on watching and hosting flows. You can use the software's Go Live attribute by tapping the floating camera icon at the bottom right of this display to start streaming rapidly. When you first launch the app, you will be greeted to the main"Discover" tab, which highlights your favorite games in addition to content that is currently trending on the platform. The majority of the videos, images, and GIFs you can interact with like you want any narrative on Facebook proper, reacting, and commenting on them as you'd like.

Chat functionality is also built in the app, allowing you to Converse with other people watching the same flow. Right now, the app does not feature advertisements; rather, monetization is restricted to viewer"stars," which like Twitch's"bits," you can buy to use in conversation and cheer on your favorite streamer.

Based on TechCrunch, Facebook will launch an iOS edition of the app once it obtains approval from Apple. We've reached out to Facebook for extra information, and we'll update this article once we hear back from the business.

It's not a surprise to view Facebook roll out a committed Gaming app. The company clearly thinks game streaming is its own second large Growth opportunity. But it has a very long road ahead, given Twitch's dominance. Let us also not forget YouTube, which has a much bigger presence in the distance, had a committed gaming program that it sunset partway through last year.
