TikTok gives parents more control over their kids' accounts

TikTok was recently fined $5.7 million for violating the kid privacy act and has been criticized for placing children in danger from predators. The company is currently trying to give parents more control over their kids' privacy and security using a characteristic called Family Pairing. It lets parents link directly to their kid's accounts and remotely disable messages that are direct, set display time limits, and enable"restricted content" mode.

Before this season, TikTok introduced "Family Safety Mode" that enabled parents to set up similar controls. However, that feature demanded immediate access to the child's phone, though the controls can be protected by a passcode.
